The timing and height of tides are important factors for coastal wildlife and for watching it, so here are some links to tidal information.
Tidal information for Hastings from BBC.
Tidal information for Harbour of Rye.
Tidal information for Dover.
Real time tide from Dover.
Different Tide Tables may use a different “chart datum”, so high tides on the same day may appear to be very different, even at sites that are close. At Rye Harbour the chart datum is 3.95 metres below Ordnance Datum (Newlyn). For others see click here.
The moon and the sun have the greatest influence on the tides – when they are aligned (at full or new moon) we get spring tides – click here for longer explanation.
