RSPB Dungeness recent sightings

Purple heron – two birds, one adult (male) and one sub-adult (possibly one of last year’s young) but no breeding pair as yet. Bittern – one still booming at Hooker’s pits. Hobby – up to four daily. Spotted redshank – one at the ARC site on 3rd. Ruff – one at Denge Marsh on 3rd. Little ringed plover – two on Burrowes pit on 3rd. Knot – one on Burrowes pit on 3rd. Greenshank – one at the ARC site on 6th. Bar-tailed godwit – up to 60 daily. Black-tailed godwit – one at ARC on 3rd. Whimbrel – up to 40 daily. Turnstone – one on Burrowes pit on 3rd. Wood sandpiper – one on Denge Marsh on 6th. Common sandpiper – one on Burrowes pit on 3rd. Mediterranean gull – eight flying over on 6th. Black tern – one over Burrowes pit on 5th. Lesser whitethroat – one in Christmas Dell on 4th.
