While last-minute winter atlassing at the foot of the Bosney hill near Iden Lock on 27th February, I watched a mixed feeding flock of 20+ Stock Doves, 50+ Jackdaws, 20+ Chaffinches, 10+ Linnets, 20+ Yellowhammers, 15+ Reed Buntings, 14 Corn Buntings and one Tree Sparrow, the last two species being new for tetrad TQ92H.

Attention is again being focussed on the decline of Tree Sparrows across the RX area. Have you seen any recently? If so, please can you send details to firstname.lastname@example.org If we could ask for location (8 figure grid references ideally), date seen, numbers and any activity (feeding, breeding, young, carrying food etc). This will help to build a bigger picture and provide an opportunity to work with landowners to help expand the dwindling population.
If you have Tree Sparrows feeding on your garden feeder do you have suitable nestboxes up - it’s not too late to put one up.
