Two Days at Pett
Sunday 14th and Monday 15th November 2010. Arrived at the pools around 7.15 am on the Sunday morning, with a Marsh Harrier (male) put the whole marsh up, and with the rain not to hard, I got out the van, when I notice this small white wader flying around the road side pool, then it landed so I rushed for my scope, which turned out to be the Grey Phalarope, which I never knew was seen the night before, so I rung Cliff, and woke him up ( sorry Cliff) . There was three of us trying to take photo’s of the bird in the bad light, but I think we all got some shots of the bird in the end. After a while we all went to the sea wall for a sea watch, where through the course of the morning we had 2 Velvet Scoter, 4 on the Monday, 2 R.B.Mergansers (east) 4 Slavonian Grebe on the sea. On the marsh on Monday afternoon 1 Ruff,78 Golden Plover, 2Marsh Harrier, 1 Merlin, 1 Barn Owl and the Phalarope was still there. With 6 R.T.Divers flying east into the bay. Good bird watching Pete.
