4th October 2010, MondayPintail – several on the ARC pit on 3rd. Red-breasted merganser – two on the ARC pit from 28th September to 3rd October. Black-throated diver – one on the ARC pit on 3rd. Bittern – one seen at Denge Marsh on most days. Great white egret – one on Denge Marsh from 1st October. Spoonbill – one on the ARC pit on 29th. Merlin – one flew over on 2nd. Common buzzard – one flew over on 27th. Golden plover – 25+ on ARC on 2nd. Little stint – two at the ARC site from 1st October. Pectoral sandpiper – at the south-eastern end of the ARC pit from 27th to 28th. Black tern – on the ARC pit on 3rd. Short-eared owl – one near the access track on 3rd. Common redstart – one in Christmas Dell on 3rd. Ring ouzel – one in Christmas Dell this morning. Barred warbler – a juvenile in scrub between Denge Marsh hide and Hooker’s pits on 2nd and 3rd. Blackcap – at least 12 in Christmas Dell this morning.
