Castle Water

It’s been on the cards for a couple of years now that the Little Egret roost at Castle Water would reach the magical hundred mark, at dawn today 102 left the roost during an half hour period. I remember going at dusk to Narrow Pit in the winter of 1997 to watch four birds coming into roost and it being quite an event, I now wonder what the feature holds for this bird at Rye Harbour and how long it will be before 150 is reached, the next landmark count. Additional highlights included 3 Kingfisher, 2 Hobby, 75 Curlew, 500 Lapwing, 3 Ruff, 14 Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, dispersing wildfowl included 350 Mallard and 65 Teal.
