14th August 2010, SaturdayThe weather was so much better than the gloomy forecast… Still plenty of terns around - about 150 Sandwich Tern, 250 Common Tern(including several late broods at Ternery Pool) and just 1 Little Tern, but also 2 juvenile Black Tern at Long Pit. Waders also pretty good, mainly at Quarry and on shore, 5 Avocet, 60 Oystercatcher, 30 Curlew, 2 Grey Plover in summer plumage, 30 Ringed Plover, 50 Dunlin, 4 Knot, 3 Greenshank , 5 Redshank and several Green and Common Sandpipers. Many Yellow Wagtail and Wheatear along shore ridges and a single Whinchat.
