Pett and Castle Water
Monday 19th April 2010, 10am to 3.45pm. Started off at Pett, and the best sightings being two Buzzards soaring around together, over the old sea cliffs at the back of the marsh, they flew in from the Pett Village area, before they headed back that way after soaring high in the sky. Sometime later a possible third Buzzard was soaring around the windmill, before again heading west. On the seaward side 1 Little Tern, 4 Common Tern and many Sandwich Tern all flying east, other birds of note were 4 Whimbrel east and 150/200 Common Scoters with 1 Brent Goose on the sea. Castle Water 1 Merlin, 3 Marsh Harrier, 1 Kestrel. It was funny because I heard more than I saw, all these birds I only heard, Cuckoo, Reed and Sedge Warbler, Cettis Warbler. There was 40/50 Yellow Wags, 4 L.T.Tit, 1 Wheater and a drake Pintail. Good birdwatching Pete.
