Beach Reserve

It is looking likely that the Bonaparte’s Gull that was found last weekend is still in the area, this morning a small gull fitting the discription of last weekends bird gave flight views only at Ternery Pool, Flat Beach Quarry and Harbour Farm Pools behind Ternery Pool. It was last seen in flight over Harbour Farm in company with Black-headed Gulls. There has been a big influx of Black-headed Gulls over the past week (including many first winter types), at least 4500 birds are now present and they can be spread over many locations on the Beach Reserve and Harbour Farm Pools depending on the the time of day and weather. Additional highlights this morning included 250 Sandwich Tern and 46 Mediterranean Gull on the Quarry, 15 Avocet and 400 Golden Plover on Flat Beach Level.

Meds and Sarneys on the Quarry.
