Rye Harbour Sightings

Highlights this morning included 400+ Black-headed Gull and 10 Mediterranean Gull on Ternery Pool, a Bittern, three Marsh Harrier and a Kingfisher from the viewpoint, and two Scaup on Long Pit. In addition, Flat Beach held a good range of birds including 300+ Lapwing, 79 Golden Plover, and small numbers of Knot and Grey Plover.

A very low tide…

It may have been one of the lowest low tides for the next 5 years, but the east wind made it oh so cold! In a short walk to the sea at Pett Level a small sea urchin test (Psammechinus miliaris?) and brittlestars (Ophiura albida) were found – below.
