Rye Harbour Sightings
6th December 2009, SundayHighlight on a brief visit to Long Pit this morning was a Bittern seen briefly flying from Long Pit to Narrow Pit. Also here at least four Little Egret, 60 Pochard and 40 Tufted Duck. At Castle Water a Marsh Harrier was quartering the reedbeds, while a Pintail was present on the main pit. Finally the ever present Merlin was hunting over Flat Beach late morning.
