Pett Pools badly need some Rain

Sunday 30th August 09. The Pools are in need of some more rain, or the pools will be all dried up before the autumn passage starts properly. This morning was much the same as last Friday evening, with 5 Greenshank, 11 B.T.Godwit, 18 Dunlin, 16 Avocet, 6 Ring Plover, 2 L.R.Plover, the only difference being in some of the numbers. Other waders today 1Knot and 2 Whimbrel, l never saw any Common Sand at all today. Birds of prey were in good supply this morning with 2 Peregrines ( 1adult 1imm.) 1 Buzzard, 1Marsh Harrier (imm) which flew west along the sea wall, and a  Sparrow Hawk. There was 16 Heron and 7 Little Egret all on one pool, quite a sight. Good bird watching Pete.
