14th,16th and 17th Aug 09.
Pett Pools started to get busy last Friday with a text message from Cliff stating good numbers of waders at the pools that morning, 115 Dunlin, 1 Wood Sand and 2 Green Sand, but by the evening the Wood Sand had gone.
In the evening there was still a good selection of waders to be seen with 1 Green Sand, 5 Common Sand, 3 L.R.Plover, 9 Ringed Plover, 2 Spotted Redshank, 2 Greenshank, 13 Black-tailed Godwit, 3Avocet, 2 Snipe and to end the evening off a nice light phase Buzzard flew over heading north east.
On Sunday the numbers stayed much the same with the waders. Sunday was a good day for sightings of Peregrine Falcon with three different sightings through the morning and a good view of a male Sparrow Hawk hunting over the pools.
Monday evening saw a little change, 3 Spotted Redshank, 4 Avocet, 24 B.T.Godwit,105,Dunlin. the numbers of the other waders were much the same.

RSPB Dungeness sightings

The great white egret showed well all day from the bridle track just beyond Denge Marsh hide. Waders once again provided the highlights at the ARC site with wood and common sandpipers, ruff and greenshank feeding close to the hide. Green sandpiper, knot, golden plover, redshank and over 200 lapwings were also present. A water rail was seen sneaking along the edge of the reeds and a juvenile marsh harrier occasionally disturbed the tranquility of the scene. Sand martins flew over throughout the day and other migrants included yellow wagtail. pied flycatcher and willow warbler.
