Penduline Tit at Rye Harbour
A Penduline Tit was present briefly at Castle Water at about 7:45 this morning, visible from the viewpoint. Unfortunately further visits at about 9am and then again at 10am did not turn up any further sightings.
A Penduline Tit was present briefly at Castle Water at about 7:45 this morning, visible from the viewpoint. Unfortunately further visits at about 9am and then again at 10am did not turn up any further sightings.
Two black-necked grebes in summer plumage were seen on the ARC pit along with seven avocets. Thirteen black-tailed godwits were seen in the field near Christmas Dell and a bittern was at Denge Marsh.

Saturday 14th March
Since the Atlas rests for the month of March, before breeding species are mapped from April to June, I’ve had time to visit some favourite places away from my allotted tetrads. On Saturday, we went for a walk in the Brightling area, strictly off the RX map and straying into Darkest TQ62, which seems to be off everybody’s map. But this is a high, forested area with fantastic views right down to the coast and out into Kent, just the place for Buzzard watching.
