RSPB Dungeness

2nd March 2009, Monday

A Slavonian grebe was seen on Burrowes pit this morning and another on the ARC pit. An avocet was also on the ARC pit and two common buzzards flew over. The black-necked grebe was still at Denge Marsh and a bittern was seen on New Excavations near Scott hide. An Iceland gull paid a brief visit to Burrowes pit this afternoon. A pair of long-tailed tits (historically rare visitors to the reserve) have started nest-building in scrub near the Hanson-ARC hide - a reserve first!
