Winter thrushes
16th December 2008, TuesdayThe hawthorns lining the A259 west of Rye are full of Redwings, Fieldfares and Blackbirds, stripping the bushes of their crimson berries. They flutter out over the road, perilously close to speeding traffic, and it seems that mostly Blackbirds get hit, to judge by the corpses in the road. Not wishing to join them, I could take only the briefest of glimpses, but noticed similar numbers all the way to Ham Street.
