Night Heron

By a strange coincidence, an adult Night Heron has turned up at West Hythe, Kent (at the eastern edge of RXland) at the selfsame dam where the Green Heron loved to disport itself so little time ago. It has been there for a few days now.
Breeding not too far away in NW Europe, the Night Heron is not one tenth, maybe not one hundredth as rare as Green Heron, but is a handsome bird in adult plumage.
A spotty brown juvenile Night Heron turned up in Alexandra Park, Hastings, last autumn.
