A Good Morning

12th October 2008, Sunday

I ran the moth trap at Lime Kiln Cottage last night, though the turn out was very disappointing, with only six species and most of these either Setaceous Hebrew Character or Lunar Underwing. However, while putting the trap away, my other half drew my attention to a strange harvestman lurking in the back kitchen which turned out to Dicranopalpus ramosus (see here), only the second reserve record. Even better, another lurker on the ouside of the house turned out to be a Western Conifer Seed Bug (Leptoglossus occidentalis, see here), a recent arrival in Britain, and a first for the reserve.
