Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve

The early morning overhead migration continues with counts of 250 siskin, 100 goldfinch, 50 linnet, 2 tree pipit, 2 grey wagtail and 2 yellow wagtail flying east. Grounded migrants included 50 chiffchaff, 14 goldcrest, 7 blackcap, a whitethroat and a lesser whitethroat. 3 eider were close inshore at Rock-a-nore.

Grey Bush-cricket

Platycleis albopunctata  is a large (body 25mm.) bush-cricket found at Rye Harbour where it is the only species with mottled grey colouration, and other features such as the long wings and a ridge on the top of the thorax. This is a male seen sunbathing on a wooden groyne today.
