Cliff End

19th September 2008, Friday

Even down at the low tide mark, birds are streaming through, the mix much as before with thousands of hirundines, hundreds of Siskins and Meadow Pipits and a supporting cast of Tree Pipits, Pied & Grey Wagtails, Goldfinches & Linnets. Following this mobile restaurant was a Merlin and 2 Peregrines were sitting on the cliffs.
2 Kingfishers were busily splashing into the RM Canal by Toot Rock: four turquoise dots as their reflections followed them back and forth. A passing Turtle Dove was a surprise - so rare now on migration.
About 100 Siskins were resting at the Marsham reedbed, among the many tits. warblers and Goldcrests.

Later in the day, I saw a Sparrowhawk and a couple of buzzards moving through high against the clouds. They looked like Common Buzzards but were a long way up.
