Iden Lock damselflies

Yesterday on the various waterways around Iden Lock, I counted about 80 Red-eyed, 25 Blue-tailed, 10 Azure and 4 Common Blue Damselflies. About half the Red-eyed were in a compact colony by the pumping station on the north bank of the Rother, the rest being all along the Military Canal north of the lock. Despite much searching, I could find no White-legged, so the Iden Moat colony does seem to be the furthest east.

Photos taken today of Bee Orchid, Pyramidal Orchid and Lizard Orchid, all in the rxwildlife area. Bee and Lizard Orchids in particular are very localised, and in the colonies where these photos were taken we counted just 4 and 14 plants respectively.
