RSPB Dungeness recent sightings

Six black terns flew through around midday, with one lingering over the ARC pit into the afternoon. At least four hobbies were present along with peregrine and marsh harrier. A red kite was seen from the Visitor Centre on 23rd.

Rye Harbour

A dawn visit to the viewpoint at Castle water found,  20 Little Egret leaving the roost, 2 Hobby hawking insects over the reeds, a Barn Owl gave fantastic views in flight over the viewpoint and a Marsh Harrier was hunting along the nearby ditches. Bearded Tit, Water Rail, and Cettis warbler were heard, Turtle Dove and Lesser Whitethroat  gave good views.  On the Beach Reserve 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Little Ringed Plover and 22 Avocet were the pick of the bunch from the new pools  behind Ternery pool.
