Hairy Hawker

Hairy Hawker are now emerging at Castle Water, the superb pre-flight emergent pictured below was found with exuvia in the ditch north of the hide. The first picture was taken at 9.45am, the wings have just expanded but the abdomen is not full size and the overall colour is still to be aquired. The second picture was taken two and half hours later and the insect is nearly ready for its first flight.
