Early start at Scotney
I was at the Point at Dungeness about 7.15 am this morning where there were large numbers of Brents moving east in the region of 6/800 in about an hour and a half , also a Razorbill and a R.B.Merganser past east with them. There were upto 2/300 G.C.Grebes on the sea and a B.N.Grebe a stone throw off the beach. I arrived at Scotney around 9.30 ,there were 4/500 Wigeon along with the 2 long staying L.T.Ducks ,50/60 Barnacle and 100 W.F.Geese and a Egyptian Goose flew over the pits and headed west. At Pett most of the birds have moved off of there wintering grounds now. The only thing of note , at high tide were large numbers of Common Scoters 800/1000 ducks in the bay ,but only 1 imm drake Velvet Scoter just off shore .
