Sea Potato
14th September 2007, FridaySome of the animals washed up on the shore are very fragile and so rarely survive to be collected. One such is the Sea Potato, a small relative of Sea Urchin and Starfish - the Echinoderms. This complete shell with intricate patterns of holes and ridges was found recently - it measures 48mm. long and is quite rounded. In life it is deep yellow, covered with a fur of fine spines and lives beneath the sand below mean low water.
