A great-northern diver and a red-crested pochard were seen on Burrowes pit.
Smew and goldeneye are still visible on the pits on the reserve and a Slavonian grebe was seen at the ARC pit.

95 Golden Plover, 130 Dunlin and 24 Shelduck were present on Flat Beach Flood. A Peregrine was seen over Long Pit. A pair of Bearded Tit showed well at the Viewpoint and two Long-eared Owl were at the roost along Narrow Pit.
Plenty of gull activity at Ternery Pool this morning, 85 Mediterranean Gull were present amongst the 1000+ Black-headed Gulls. At least 18 Mediterranean Gull were ringed, five ringing combinations were picked out involving colour and metal rings. Unfortunately it was not possible to read any lettering due to the distance. In previous years birds that were ringed in France, Netherlands and Hungary have turned up at Ternery Pool. The picture below was taken last year.

I was hanging out washing this morning, getting my fingers cold but admiring once more the wonderful song of a treetop Mistle Thrush when a Krrark krrark krrark!! announced the arrival of a Raven, flapping low across the gardens with a powerful rush of wingbeats.
