News from RSPB Dungeness

Dunlin, snipe and a flock of 23 golden plover were visible from Denge Marsh hide and stonchats were seen around the trail.

A new exibition will be starting soon at Dungeness Visitor and Education Centre.

From 3rd December until 1st January, David Featherbe, wildlife photographer, will be displaying his work.

Dave’s great variety if images range from gannets on the Bass Rock, thourgh South African wildlife to landscapes of the Romney Marsh.

Entry to the visitor centre and exhibition is free.

News from RSPB Dungeness

A black-necked grebe was reported on the ARC pits. Bewick’s swans (six adults and two juveniles) and three Caspian gulls were visible from the ARC screen and hide. Other sightings included dunlin, snipe, turnstone, green sandpiper and curlew.  A marsh harrier was seen near Boulderwall farm. Stonechats were seen as in most days.

Castle Water

A lonely and rather lost looking Bewick’s Swan, a flushed Bittern and 2 Bullfinch were the highlights from a windy Castle Water this morning.

News from RSPB Dungeness

A smew was reported for the second time this month. 

A Caspian gull and a yellow-legged gull were showing well from ARC hide together with ten ruff and some dunlin.

Beach Reserve

Roosting waders along Shore Ridges at high tide today included, 120 Dunlin, 70 Sanderling, 28 Grey Plover, 32 Ringed Plover and 260 Oystercatcher. A Merlin and Marsh Harrier we also seen at  Ternery  Pool.

News from RSPB Dungeness

A black-necked grebe was seen again at the ARC pits together with sixty pintail. 

Other sightings include curlew flying past and two grey partridges seen near the return trail.
