Lovers’ Seat landslip

Inspirationally unkempt, unmanageable and unlike upstanding Albion chalk, the slovenly Hastings Country Park Local Nature Reserve cliffs slump muddily seaward.

This crumbling coast continually collapses, rust-stained soil slithering down -scrub hanging on by torn roots – to form uncharted ramps of naked soil: a nomansland of raw sandstone walls, crags, clay gulleys and ridges, while clean streams conclude in pools of creamy slurry. News from RSPB Dungeness

Today’s highlight was a Pallas’s warbler spotted at Denge marsh road at about 2:00 pm.

Stonechats and whinchats have been seen between Denge marsh hide and the return trail.

Rye Harbour Sightings

The Buff-breasted Sandpiper was again present on Flat Beach Level this morning, visible from the Wader Pool hide or the footpath past the Red-roofed Hut. Also here two Little Stint, 520 Golden Plover, two Grey Plover, 11 Brent Geese and a Marsh Harrier.
