This animal didn’t seem to have been in the water long - there were none of the abrasions one might expect from it washing against obstacles. However there was a laceration on the fin and bruising on the side of the head. I wonder if it had been discarded after getting entangled in nets?

News from RSPB Dungeness

A yellow-browed warbler as well as chiffchaffs were spotted at 9:00 a.m. in the willows in the car park opposite the visitor centre. Earlier in the morning a barn owl sat on a post on the return trail providing a wonderful daylight view. A white-fronted goose also flew over the car park at 11:00 am.

A water rail, water pipit and some golden plovers were spotted on Denge Marsh. A ring ouzel was seen from the ramp.Â
