Doleham

Few warblers this morning but many House Martins gathered overhead, with a few Swallows, Swifts and a Sand Martin.

Following rain, the wetlands are now damplands rather than drylands, but the only other notable birds were Buzzard, Barn Owl and Green Sandpiper.

News from RSPB Dungeness

Today’s highlight were eight garganey on Denge Marsh.

Common, green and wood sandpiper were all seen on the ARC pit.

Raptor-wise a marsh harrier and a female sparrowhawk were seen on the reserve.

Plenty of sand martins and yellow wagtails are still on the move.

Rye Harbour Sightings

At Ternery Pool, the Wood Sandpiper was still present, visible from the left hand side of the Parkes Hide mid-morning. Also here two Green Sandpiper and four Common Sandpiper. On the Beach Reserve still good numbers of Yellow Wagtail, with a flock of over 40 birds feeding to the west of Crittall Hide, a few Wheatear and a single Whinchat.
