We spent a wonderful half hour watching this (juvenile?) wood sandpiper yesterday afternoon from the Parkes Hide at Ternery Pool

We also watched a stoat causing mayhem amongst the gull roosts and, having put them all up, continuing to leap, twist, roll, somersault and generally play around aparently just for the fun of it. What a wonderful reserve Rye Harbour is - we don’t get to visit nearly as much as we would like and those of you who have it on your doorstep are so, so lucky.

Despite the rotten weather we managed to see a few birds today, the highlights being: seven garganey, one wood sandpiper and two green sandpipers at Denge Marsh and about 2000 sand martins over the ARC pit. 

Our Wildlife and Countryside Fair continues tomorrow and, as most attractions are under cover, should provide a good day out, whatever the weather.
