As the weather warms up, many early butterflies and dragonflies can be seen on the wing. A butterfly survey on the reserve today revealed 11 species, including typical early species such as Peacock and Red Admiral, as well as less expected species like Small Copper and Green Hairstreak. Black-headed Gull Chicks

The first Black-headed Gull chicks have now hatched and with about 2,000 pairs nesting it is very busy at Ternery Pool. Best place to watch is from Parkes Hide, but be warned nature is cruel… the chicks suffer from their own species and several other birds.
