Guestling Wood

Frosty but sunny, and Yellowhammer in song for the first time this year, down Watermill Lane.
(I heard my first Reed Bunting singing on Thursday at Pett Pools too).
(And my first Blackbird last night.)
The Common Gulls on the fields at Pickham Farm were lying down on the frosty ground, rather than marching about as usual. I’d noticed the same thing behind our house earlier. Perhaps they have delicate feet?
Around Pickham Mill were all 3 woodpeckers, Marsh Tit and Stock Dove, along with c80 Fieldfares.
Along the stream at the wood’s northern end were c50 Siskins, a squealing Water Rail and a Snipe.
