RSPB Dungeness

The red-crested pochards and Slavonian grebe are still with us as are four goosanders and a good number of smew. Raptor sightings over the past two days have included two peregrines at the Hanson ARC site, plus marsh harrier, hen harrier and merlin. Passerines of note include goldcrest and a flock of 20 tree sparrows.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve

At least 240 Curlew roosted on Harbour Farm along with 30+ Golden Plover and 400 Lapwing , a Peregrine helped them all disperse this morning. Along Shore Ridges 350 Oystercatcher, 200+ Dunlin and 60 Sanderling were roosting early morning. The Wader Pool attracted Grey and Ringed Plover, Redshank , Dunlin and 3 Shelduck. A Merlin gave good views perched by Lime Kiln Cottage.
