Dungeness Bird Observatory

Two Pomarine Skuas were lingering offshore throughout the day and 20 Arctic Skuas were seen along with 13 Little Gulls, 600 Common Terns, 26 Arctic Terns and 11 Little Terns moving west.
Still very quiet on the land with just one Whinchat, five Lesser Whitethroats and ten Chiffchaffs being seen and 650 Swallows and three Grey Wagtails passing overhead.

Pannel Valley

Migrant moths today included 2 Convolvulus Hawk-Moths, these impressive moths migrate from Africa, although the individuals seen here are likely to be from broods hatched by migrants that reached southern Europe earlier in the year.

Birds within the area in recent days have included 3 Marsh Harriers and approximately 2,500 Swallows roosting in the reedbed on Monday, a group of 7 Spotted Flycatchers behind Carter’s Flood and a Ring Ouzel yesterday.
