Pannel Valley

A White Stork flying north over the valley at approximately 15.00 was a nice reward for those carrying out some rather wet and muddy habitat management work in the reedbed today. Yesterday, Greenshank was added to the list of waders recorded on their way back south.

Little Tern Fledgling at Rye Harbour

The first Little Tern fledgling of the season was present on the shore ridges this morning. It was outside the temporary electric fence on the seaward side making short flights up and down the beach. Within the colony, a further seven well grown chicks were present, as well as at least one recently hatched chick being brooded by mum and three sitting birds. The birds on Flat Beach were very quiet this morning though at least one appears to be brooding.
