This afternoon in cold and windy weather there were many terns feeding at Castle Water, 40 Common and 8 Black Terns, plus an immature Little Gull.
This afternoon in cold and windy weather there were many terns feeding at Castle Water, 40 Common and 8 Black Terns, plus an immature Little Gull.
The flood has been adopted by a large flock of non-breeding Mute Swans: 54 today. Female Marsh Harrier and a Hobby were hunting along the canal.
At the scrape, excellent close-up views of waders and wildfowl can be had from the hides. Today, a beautiful summer-plumaged Spotted Redshank was right up close. A Greenshank however kept its distance. A surprise was a Turnstone - not usually found away from the beach.
