Humming-bird Hawk-moths

A humming-bird hawk-moth was seen today along the Royal Military Canal, Pett Level.

Another humming-bird hawk-moth was also seen in a garden at the top of West St Leonards Cliffs.

A humming-bird hawk-moth and a red admiral were seen in a garden at Martineau Lane, Hastings. Reported on the Sussex Ornithological Society website.

Garganey Madness

At Pett Level this morning we saw at least 7 and maybe as many as 11 Garganey, with 2 pairs arriving from the sea and a group of 4 flying round Pett Pools.
An Avocet was on the beach, dozens of gulls and Sandwich Terns moving NE and a few Gannets out in the mist.
The Pink-footed Goose is still in situ.
Last of all, a House Martin & a Swallow flew E at 1145.

White fronted geese

2 white fronted geese flew W off hastings at 07.30. Also seen were 1 Swallow flying E and single Little gull and Sandwich tern feeding offshore.

Offshore 1 Arctic Skua chasing Sandwich Terns and 2 Fulmar
At Castle Water 13 Little Egret,4 Cettis and 1 Sedge Warbler
